Racing around the world

Registration for the 57th European Junior Cycling Tour Assen has begun. The race has long since ceased to be just “European. We already have participants on the list from Hong Kong, Canada, South Africa and Australia. More riders come from those countries than, for example, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. We welcome for the first time a participant from the United Arab Emirates. They all ride two criteriums in Assen, an Omloop over the VAM mountain, a time trial over the Muur of Emmen and an Omloop in Lieveren.

In total we now have about 320 participants including a lot of new names participating for the first time. That is really nice to see. The largest group comes from Great Britain with 111 riders, followed by the Netherlands with 99 riders and Germany with 39 riders.

The youth categories are filling up fast. In categories 4, 5 6, for example, two-thirds of the spots are already taken. Also the other youth categories are already more than half full. Tell your friends to ride along, too. You really don’t want to miss the Jeugdtour Assen!

Girls ride!
We are also focusing specifically on the girls this year. We see that there are still many boys registering in the youth categories but we also have a special leader’s jersey for the girls. So sign up!
This also applies to the U17 girls and junior women. We already have a strong block with the national team of Canada and the leading junior team of AG Insurance-NXTG. That will be very spectacular races over the VAM mountain and through the open country in Lieveren.

Registration is easy through our website. Do it today. We promise great races and hope for great weather on and around the course and on our cycling campground.

Practical
The first lists of participants will be online February 12. Then, after receipt of payment, the first numbers will also be allocated. Keep an eye on this page.
