Georgia from Hong Kong looks back

Next year, we will host the 60th edition, beginning on Monday, August 2, 2027. Registration opens on Monday, February 1, 2027, at 10:00 AM CET. We are currently working on an excellent program and hope to include a special surprise for this milestone 60th edition.

In the meantime, let’s take a look back—this time, through the eyes of Georgia.

My name is Georgia Lo; I am 11 years old and an ambitious young cyclist from Hong Kong, China. This is my second time participating in the European Junior Cycling Tour Assen (in category 4), and I am incredibly excited. In this piece, she reflects on her week of cycling in Assen. “The first day of the competition was fantastic, featuring many young, talented cyclists who competed against one another with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, I crashed during the fourth lap. I tried to catch back up to the lead group—and I almost made it! In the end, I finished 32nd out of 52 participants, and 7th out of the 15 girls. I’m quite proud of that, especially considering my crash. Afterward, my teammate Joanna Huong and I bought some chips and a can of cola to recover from an exhausting race.

On the second day, I did my absolute best to stay clear of any crashes and keep up with the lead group. I finished in 12th place. The riders here are truly excellent at sprinting.

The third stage included steep climbs and descents. I noticed that not everyone rides with the same level of composure; some riders try to force their way through the peloton at any cost just to get to the front. I finished 18th, and 4th among the girls. It was incredibly tough.

The fourth stage—a time trial—was very exciting. The result was a bit disappointing, partly due to a strong Dutch headwind that really slowed me down.

In the final stage, I took 9th place and finished 2nd among the girls—I’m very proud of that! Finally, I’d like to congratulate all the winners and participants. It was wonderful to compete in Assen. I look forward to chasing my goals again next year!”
