Frequently asked questions

I accidentally selected the wrong category.
Register again using the right category as soon as possible. If the correct category is full, you will be on a waiting list.

In which category should I register?
The overview of the categories can be found here.

Why is there no junior/U19 category?
We have noticed there is hardly any interest in our races from juniors anymore. Because we have 11 categories on one day, maximum race distances are no more than 60 kilometers. A classic like we used to have is sadly not an option anymore. Junior racing is also becoming very professional already and our race format seems not interesting anymore. In recent years there were only 30-40 juniors per category (M/F) but the races ask a significant time investment from our jury and volunteers every day. We therefore decided to cancel the U19 category.

What information do I need to enter for registration?
To register, you need the following information: category, your first and last name, city, country, club, UCI-number, date of birth, gender, email address. If you don’t have the UCI-number yet, enter a zero and let us know as soon as possible per mail.

I don’t have a bib number yet but have paid.
Bib numbers will be assigned manually after payment is received. When the back number is assigned, it will appear on the participant list. Back numbers may still change towards the event for logistical reasons.

Until when can I register?
You can register until the first day of the EJCTA. Please note that the categories have a maximum number of participants and therefore may be full. The same goes for the cycling campground for which the number of available spaces is also limited.

I did not receive a confirmation email.
It frequently happens that mail ends up in the spam folder, especially with gmail. Check it out and add [email protected] to your address list. Email us and we will send it again.

Can I also register a team?
Yes, you can but each rider must be entered separately. If the category is full before you register the entire team, no exceptions will be made. However, the competition is an individual competition where no team prizes will be awarded.

What are the payment details?
The cost of participation is €160 per rider. This includes a mandatory fee of €10 for transponder chip rental. You can transfer the amount to NL68RABO0302880070 t.n.v. SOW Assen

Bank address: Rabobank Assen and Noord Drenthe, Neptunusplein 2 , 9401 CZ Assen

Payments must be received as soon as possible.

Cancel
Of course, something can always happen.Cancel by May 1 is 80% refund, cancel by June 1 is 60% refund, cancel by July 1 is 40% refund and cancel by 20 july is 20% return. This also applies to camping! The Stichting Ondersteuning Wielersport cannot be held liable for any other travel and accommodation costs incurred in the event of cancellation.

The competition program can always change due to circumstances such as weather, permits or other unforeseen circumstances, in length or location. This is not grounds for a full refund of the participation fee.

What about my gear settings?
You can find the gear settings in this document ‘gears 2026’.

From this year it’s only allowed to block off the gears when you use mechanical shifting. If you use electronic shifting, you will have to use a cassette that is under or on the exact roll-out distance of your category. We aim to make racing financially accessible for everyone but sadly, we have seen fraud with electronic shifting so blocking off will not be allowed anymore.

Can I check if I have paid?
Yes, if the rider has a number in front of his or her name on the participant list, payment has been received and processed.
The treasurer does not check payments daily but usually on weekends. Give us time to process the hundreds of payments.

Can I ride a time trial bike?
No, time trial bikes are not allowed. Time trial helmets (approved by UCI) are allowed in all categories

How about wheels?
For all youth categories and U17 (M/F) there is a maximum wheel depth of 50mm including brake surface.
